Short answer
When Shopify shipping rates do not appear, first confirm that the destination is inside an active market and shipping zone, every product is assigned to the intended shipping profile and fulfilment location, and at least one rate matches the cart’s price or weight. Then test the same address at checkout. If checkout works but a storefront calculator does not, the problem is likely the app placement, theme integration, cart context, or rate-provider response rather than the underlying Shopify rate setup.
Start with the shipping zone and market
A rate cannot appear for an address outside the countries or regions the store serves. Confirm the market is active, the address belongs to the expected zone, and the zone contains at least one rate that can apply.
- Use the exact destination country, region, and postcode.
- Check that the market is active.
- Confirm the destination belongs to one shipping zone.
- Verify at least one rate exists in that zone.
Check profiles, products, and origins
Products in custom shipping profiles use the rates attached to those profiles. A product assigned to the wrong profile, an inactive fulfilment location, or a location missing from the profile can remove otherwise valid choices.
For mixed carts, inspect every product. One product without a compatible rate or origin can change the result for the complete order.
Check rate conditions and product data
Price-based and weight-based conditions must match the actual cart. Check boundary values, currencies, product weights, and whether rates leave gaps between conditions. Carrier-calculated rates also depend on accurate package and destination information.
Separate checkout problems from storefront problems
Run a controlled checkout test with the same product, quantity, and address. If checkout also has no rate, fix Shopify or the rate provider first. If checkout succeeds but the storefront widget fails, verify the calculator placement, current cart data, app embed, theme selector, and any third-party rate compatibility.

Questions
Why does Shopify say shipping is not available?
The address may be outside an active zone, no rate condition may match, a product may be in the wrong profile, or an app/carrier rate may not return a result.
Why does checkout show a rate but my cart calculator does not?
That usually points to storefront integration, cart context, theme placement, address input, or third-party rate timing rather than the base Shopify zone.
Can missing product weight hide a rate?
Yes. Weight-based and carrier-calculated rates depend on accurate product weight and, in some cases, package information.
